Please include your Power BI Desktop or Service version, approximate warehouse row count, visual version, a description of the expected and actual behavior, and screenshots or a sanitized sample file when possible.
Quick Start
- Add Unclocked Warehouse 3D to a Power BI report page.
- Resize the visual to provide enough room for the warehouse and controls.
- Add a unique location field to Location ID.
- Add numeric X, Y, and Z coordinate fields.
- Add the numeric measure you want to analyze to Heat Value.
- Optionally add bin dimensions and up to three category-filter fields.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the visual create coordinates automatically?
No. The Power BI model must provide X, Y, and Z coordinates for each location. Optional width, length, and height fields can define individual bin dimensions.
What can I use as the Heat Value?
Any numeric Power BI measure that can be evaluated by warehouse location, such as quantity, value, picks, capacity, dwell time, shortage quantity, or exception count.
Can I filter by aisle or level?
Yes. The visual includes three custom category-filter fields that can represent aisle, level, zone, building, process, product family, or another categorical field.
Does it work with Power BI slicers?
Yes. The visual responds to the report filter context, including slicers and interactions configured by the report author.
Is there a 2D view?
Yes. The 2D mode creates a flat bird's-eye plan. When multiple levels overlap, the highest visible level appears on top. Filter to one level when level-specific analysis is required.
How many bins can it display?
The free plan renders up to 2,500 bins. The Professional plan removes that free-tier restriction, while the report author controls the scene limit through the visual's Max displayed bins setting. Actual performance depends on the report and device.
Can I use a warehouse floor plan?
Yes. A floor-plan image can be displayed beneath the bins when it is aligned with the same coordinate bounds used by the warehouse data.
Troubleshooting
No bins appear
Confirm that Location ID and X/Y/Z coordinates are populated, coordinate columns contain valid numbers, report filters are not hiding the layout, and Max displayed bins is high enough.
Bins overlap or appear in the wrong place
Confirm that coordinates and dimensions use the same measurement units, X/Y values identify the intended starting corner, and stacked locations have distinct Z coordinates.
The model is slow to navigate
Switch to the Performance preset, turn off bin outlines and hover tooltips, lower Max displayed bins, or use report filters to reduce the active layout.
